Protecting Your Precious Keepsakes

Your jewelry isn’t just an accessory — it’s a vessel of memory, crafted to honor your story. Whether it carries ashes, hair, breast milk, or dried flowers, each piece is made with reverence. Treat it like the heirloom it is.

Jewelry Care Guidelines

• Avoid moisture.
  Remove your jewelry before showering, swimming, or washing hands.
• Keep away from chemicals.
  Perfumes, lotions, hair products, cleaning sprays, and sanitizers can all damage resin and metal finishes.
• Store it safely.
  Place your piece in a soft pouch or jewelry box, away from heat, light, and humidity. Keepsakes rest best in darkness.
• Don’t sleep in it.
  Movement and pressure while you sleep can loosen stones or cause unnecessary wear.
• Gentle is best.
  Wipe with a dry, soft cloth. Never use silver polish, jewelry dips, alcohol, or ultrasonic cleaners.

Plated Jewelry (925 Sterling Silver Plated Gold, Rose Gold, Black Rhodium, etc.)

• Plated finishes are delicate and will naturally fade with time, especially in high-friction areas (like rings).
• Avoid rubbing, water, and chemicals to extend plating life.
• Store it individually to prevent contact with other jewelry.

Need a replate?

Replating is normal for well-loved pieces and can bring your jewelry back to life. 

Local jewelers offer replating services — just let them know what metal it is (e.g., 14k gold plating over sterling).

Note: Custom keepsakes with inclusions (ashes, hair, etc.) should only be handled by jewelers comfortable with preservation pieces.

Sterling Silver & Stainless Steel

• Use a high-quality silver polishing cloth (not just any jewelry cloth).
• Gently rub the piece in one direction — avoid circular motion if it has fine details or inclusions.
• This is the safest method for preservation pieces that include resin, ashes, hair, etc.Sterling silver may tarnish over time. Use a silver-safe polishing cloth only (no dips or chemical cleaners). 

Stainless steel is strong and tarnish-resistant, but should still be kept clean and dry to maintain its finish.

Preservation Pieces Care Guideline

• Resin is water-resistant, not waterproof. Avoid submerging or prolonged exposure to water.
• Place your pieces cool place and avoid direct sunlight & heat.
  Over time, UV rays or heat can cause yellowing or warping.
• Handle with care.
  Resin is durable but not indestructible. Avoid dropping or exposing it to sharp objects

Clothing Care Tips

• Wash cold, inside out.
  Protect prints, embroidery, and textures by turning garments inside out and using cold water.
• Use gentle or delicate cycle.
  A soft spin keeps fabrics looking fresh and keeps custom creations from fraying or fading.
• Avoid bleach & fabric softeners.
  These harsh potions can weaken fibers and damage prints, especially on dark or dyed clothing.
• Hang to dry or tumble low.
  High heat fades color, cracks prints, and weakens elastics. We recommend air drying for best results.

 Embellished or Decorated Apparel

• Hand wash when possible or use a garment bag on delicate cycle.
• Lay flat to dry to prevent distortion or snagging.

Specialty Fabrics (Mesh, Lace, Velvet, Faux Leather)

• Always check labels or care instructions provided at purchase.
• Most require cold water, gentle detergent, and air drying away from heat or sunlight.

Stain & Spill Tips

• Act fast! Blot gently (never rub) and use a mild detergent.
• Avoid soaking if the garment contains preserved delicate trim.
• When in doubt — message us before you risk damage.
